Shipping is FREE to the U.S.A. Not sure what an “eBook” is? See a thorough description at the end of this page. Revelation is one of the most difficult, widely-debated books of the Bible. The late nineteenth and early twentieth century saw a renewed interest in the study of Bible prophecy and especially the book of Revelation. E. W. Bullinger’s Commentary on Revelation (first published in 1902 under the title The Apocalypse or, The Day of the Lord), approaches the text of Revelation from a dispensational viewpoint, but seeks to provide a full analysis of the structure and linguistic features of the book. Included are schematic outlines of the text as well as a translation by the author for the Greek text. Bullinger interacts with issues arising from a comparison of various ancient manuscripts of Revelation in order to provide an understanding of the text that is linguistically, and biblically accurate. Here is what is included on this Revelation Commentary CD: Table of Contents: IntroductoryTHE FIVE-FOLD DIVISION OF THE BIBLE.THE HEBREW CHARACTER OF THE BOOK.THE CHURCH NOT THE SUBJECT OF OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY.THE LORD’S DAYTHE TITLES OF CHRIST.THE SON OF MANTHE ALMIGHTYLORD GODTHE FIRST AND THE LASTTHE PRINCE OF THE KINGS OF THE EARTHWHO IS TO COMETHE LIVING ONETHE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK.THE TITLE OF THE BOOK.THE DESCRIPTIONS OF THE BOOK.THE WORD OF GODTHIS PROPHECYTHE TESTIMONY OF JESUS CHRISTCERTAIN EXPRESSIONS IN CHAPS. i. – iii.UNTO HIM THAT LOVED USKINGS AND PRIESTSHIS FATHERKINGDOM AND PATIENCEOUT OF HIS MOUTH WENT A SHARP TWOA GREAT VOICEHE THAT HATH AN EARTHE CHARACTER OF CHRIST’S ADVENT (i. 7).THE VISION OF THE SON OF MAN.THE COMPLEMENT OF GENESIS.THE SUMMARY OF ITS CONTENTS (i. 19).THE SEVEN ASSEMBLIES AS A WHOLE (i.11).EPHESUSSMYRNAPERGAMOSTHYATIRASARDISPHILADELPHIALAODICEATHE PROMISES TO THE SEVEN ASSEMBLIES.THE FIRSTTHE SECONDTHE THIRDTHE FOURTHTHE FIFTHTHE SIXTHTHE SEVENTHTHE SCOPE OF THE APOCALYPSE SHEWN BY ITS PLACE IN THE CANONTHE SCOPE OF THE APOCALYPSE SHEWN BY ITS STRUCTUREThe Introduction: Chapter 1The People on the Earth: Chapters 2-3The First Vision in Heaven: Chapters 4-5The First Vision on EarthThe Second Vision in HeavenThe Second Vision On EarthThe Third Vision In HeavenThe Third Vision On EarthThe Fourth Vision In HeavenThe Fourth Vision On EarthThe Fifth Vision In HeavenThe Fifth Vision On EarthThe Sixth Vision In HeavenThe Sixth Vision On EarthThe Seventh Vision In HeavenThe Seventh (And Last) Vision On EarthThe People of the New EarthThe ConclusionAppendixIndexesIndex of Scripture ReferencesIndex of Scripture Commentary Not sure what an “eBook” is? For those of you who may not be familiar with Charles Haddon Spurgeon, here is a little background: C.H. Spurgeon, (June 19, 1834 – January 31, 1892) was a British Baptist preacher who remains highly influential amongst Reformed Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the “Prince of Preachers.” Born in Kelvedon, Essex, Spurgeon’s conversion to Christianity came on January 6, 1850 at the age of fifteen. On his way to a scheduled appointment, a snow storm forced him to cut short his intended journey and to turn into a Primitive Methodist chapel in Colchester where, in his own words: “God opened his heart to the salvation message.” The text that moved him was Isaiah 45:22 “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else.” Later that year he was admitted to the church at Newmarket on April 4, 1850. His baptism followed on May 3 in the river Lark, at Isleham. Later that same year he moved to Cambridge. He preached his first sermon in 1851 and, from the beginning of his ministry, his style and ability were considered to be far above average. In the same year, he was ordained as pastor of the small Baptist church at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire. In April 1854, after preaching for only three months and just four years after his conversion, Spurgeon, then only 20, was called to the pastorate of London’s famed New Park Street Chapel, Southwark (formerly pastored by the Particular Baptist theologian John Gill). Within a few months of his call his powers as a preacher made him famous. The following year the first of his sermons in the “New Park Street Pulpit” was published. Spurgeon’s sermons were published in printed form every week, and enjoyed a high circulation. By the time of his death in 1892, he had preached almost thirty-six hundred sermons and published forty-nine volumes of commentaries, sayings, anecdotes, illustrations, and devotions. Immediately following his fame was controversy. The first attack in the Press appeared in the Earthen Vessel in January 1855. His preaching, although not revolutionary in substance, was a plain spoken and direct appeal to the people using the Bible to provoke them to consider the claims of Jesus Christ. Critical attacks from the media persisted throughout his life. The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to Surrey Music Hall. In these venues Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences numbering more than 10,000 — all in the days before electronic amplification. At twenty-two Spurgeon was the most popular preacher of the day. Having this book on a CD is a dream come true. You are about to purchase eBook versions of the 1560 and 1599 Geneva Bibles (facsimile) on CD disk. Shipping is FREE to the USA! Not sure what an “eBook” is? See a thorough description at the end of this page. Don’t pass up this opportunity to obtain a copy of this rare Bible! Original hard copy editions have sold on eBay for thousands of dollars. With this CD you can read the same pages on your computer, or print out any pages you like at your convenience. Serious students of the Bible should not be without these historical 1560 and 1599 Geneva versions. Its rich poetry and faithful accuracy to the original languages make it a must-have for any reference library. History (courtesy of Wikipedia) The Geneva Bible was a Protestant translation of the Bible into English. It has also been known as the Breeches Bible, after its rendering of Genesis 3:7, “Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knewe that they were naked, and they sewed figge tree leaues together, and made them selues breeches.” This was the Bible read by William Shakespeare, by John Donne, and by John Bunyan, author of Pilgrim’s Progress. It was the Bible that was brought to America on the Mayflower and used by Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War. Because the language of the Geneva Bible was more forceful and vigorous, most readers preferred this version strongly over the Bishops’ Bible, the translation authorised by the Church of England under Elizabeth I. During the time when England was ruled by Queen Mary I, who persecuted Protestants, a number of Protestant scholars fled to Geneva in Switzerland, which was then ruled as a republic in which John Calvin and Theodore Beza provided the primary spiritual and theological leadership. Among these scholars was William Whittingham, who supervised the translation in collaboration with Miles Coverdale, Christopher Goodman, Anthony Gilby, Thomas Sampson, and William Cole–several of whom became prominent figures in the proto-Puritan nonconformist faction of the Vestments controversy. Whittingham was directly responsible for the New Testament, which was complete in 1557, while Gilby oversaw the Old. The first full edition of this Bible appeared in 1560. It was revised substantially in 1576 and again in 1599, with over 150 editions coming out by 1644. Like most English translations of the time, the Geneva Bible was translated from scholarly editions of the Greek New Testament and Hebrew scriptures that comprise the Christian Old Testament. The English rendering was substantially based on the earlier translations by William Tyndale and Myles Coverdale. (80-90% of the language in the Genevan New Testament is from Tyndale.) The Geneva Bible was the first English Bible to use verse numbers and an elaborate system of commentary in marginal glosses. This annotation was done by Laurence Tomson, who translated (for the 1560 Geneva Bible) L’Oiseleur’s notes on the Gospels, which themselves came from Camerarius. In 1576 Tomson added L’Oiseleur’s notes for the Epistles, which came from Beza’s 1565 and 1589/1598 Greek and Latin edition of the Bible. Beginning in 1598 Franciscus Junius’ notes on Revelation were added, replacing the original notes deriving from John Bale and Heinrich Bullinger. Bale’s The Image of bothe churches had a great impact on these notes as well as Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. Both the Junius and Bullinger-Bale annotations are explicitly anti-Roman Catholic and representative of much popular Protestant apocalypticism during the Reformation. The annotations (which are a necessary and integral part of the text) were Calvinistic and Puritan in character, and as such they were disliked by the ruling conservative Protestants of the Church of England, as well as King James I, who commissioned the Authorised Version or King James Bible to replace it. The Geneva Bible also motivated the production of the Douay-Rheims edition by the recusant Catholic community. The Geneva Bible remained popular among Puritans and remained in widespread use until after the English Civil War. It has been stated by some, that the Geneva Bible was the Bible present at the signing of the U. S. Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution, due to the fact that it was the bible that the Puritans brought with them to America. However, the U. S. Library of Congress and the Independence National Historical Park both state that they do not know what version/translation of the Bible was present at these signings. (Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA being the location of both of the signings). The eBook versions of the 1560 & 1599 Geneva Bibles also contains the Apocryphal Books, as well as the Old and New Testaments in their entirety. Not sure what an “eBook” is? Ten years later he became dean of Exeter, and in 1705 he was consecrated bishop of Lincoln. He was translated to the see of Canterbury in 1716 on the death of Thomas Tenison. During 1718 he negotiated with leading French churchmen about a projected union of the Gallican and English churches to resist the claims of Rome (see J. H. Lupton, Archbishop Wake and the Project of Union, 1896). In dealing with nonconformity he was tolerant, and even advocated a revision of the Prayer Book if that would allay the scruples of dissenters. His writings are numerous, the chief being his State of the Church and Clergy of England … historically deduced (London, 1703). He died at Lambeth on January 24 1736/7 (courtesy of Wikipedia). BONUS BOOKS: The Lost Books of the Bible and The Forgotten Books of EdenA good variety and collection of books which, for whatever reason, were excluded by the early Church councils from what became the Old Testament and New Testament we know today. Initially published in the early 1900’s, each one of the “Lost Books” includes a brief introduction giving background and history. Like the editors of this two-part volume, it is necessary to share personal opinions of the historicity of these works, each reader can decide for him or herself what is shadow and what is reality, and consider the debate which at one time engulfed some of these books. This volume is divided into two sections. The first is called “Lost Books of the Bible”, and includes works which deal with Jesus & the apostles, and may at one time have been considered part of the New Testament Gospel. Included are the following 26 “lost” books: The Gospel of the Nativity of Mary The Book of James, or Protoevangelion The Gospel of the Infancy of JESUS CHRIST I Infancy II Infancy III Infancy IV Infancy The Epistle of Jesus Christ The Gospel of Nicodemus The Apostles’ Creed The Epistle of Paul to the Laodiceans The Epistles of Paul to Seneca The Acts of Paul and Thelca First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians Second Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians The General Epistle of Barnabus The Epistle of Ignatius to the Magnesians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Romans The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Philadelphians The Epistle of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans The Epistle of Ignatius to Polycarp The Epistle of Polycarp to the Philippians The Shepherd of Hermas The Lost Gospel According to Peter The second part is titled “The Forgotten Books of Eden”, and includes works which are suited to the Hebrew Bible, or Old Testament. They too were excluded by Jewish (and some Christian) councils due to doubts about their age and origins. Included are the following 22 books: The Testament of Abraham The Book of Adam and Eve The Second Book of Adam and Eve The Life of Adam and Eve (Slovic) The Story of Ahikar The Letter of Aristeas The Odes of Solomon The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs (12 books) The Psalms of Solomon II Esdras IV Maccabees This affordable book offers a thought provoking read for those with a general interest “outside of the box”. While the translations are somewhat dated, they are not difficult to understand. Having this book on a CD is a dream come true. A wonderful feature of this CD is the ability to “copy and paste” any of the text from its over 1,000 pages into any other computer application/program. Try doing that with a printed book! Everything on this disk is fully searchable. And with so many pages and chapters to study, having built-in Bookmarks is definitely a time saver! Do you like audio books? Another time-saving feature not talked about very often is the “Read Aloud” function of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This feature will allow your computer to read the text of the book to you, whether it be one page or the entire book! (Don’t be fooled by others on eBay who try to pass off their eBooks as the only ones with this feature, as it will work with nearly any PDF in Adobe Acrobat) Don’t pass up this opportunity to obtain a copy of these awesome Bible reference books! Original hard copy editions of these works have sold on eBay for many times the cost of this disk. With this CD you can read the same pages on your computer, or print out any pages you like at your convenience. All files are in PDF format and are bookmarked for easy navigation. Not sure what an “eBook” is? The term ‘eBook’ simply means “electronic book”, meant for viewing on your computer or other device. Ebooks usually come in Adobe PDF format, as the one being offered in this auction. All that is required to read the Ebook is a software program called Adobe Acrobat Reader, which will open PDF files. Most computers already have the Adobe Acrobat reader software already installed, but in the rare instance your computer may not have it, you can download the latest version for FREE at www.adobe.com. For viewing on a mobile device such as Kindle, iPhone, Droid, etc. you must have an ‘app’ installed which allows reading of PDF files. With an Ebook, you can read books on your computer screen and zoom in on the text to make the words as big as you would like them to be to read comfortably! You can also go to any page or chapter in the book with just a few mouse clicks, even if the book has thousands of pages! You can also print out any or all pages you like at your convenience. With some Ebooks, you even have the capability to copy and paste the text of the book into another computer file, instead of retyping by hand. These are just a few of the features and conveniences of having a book in electronic format.I will send this item by postal mail.
